Whilst they gigged and soaked up the amazing diversity of music that NYC offers the album was being mixed by Helik Hadar in Los Angeles. The result Dreamers, release in early 2010 is a further continuation of the unique harmonic soul sound that the group have stamped their own. It’s music defined by Mark and Anthea’s rich and highly evocative vocals, reinforced with hip horn lines and always that infectious groove to the beat.
With voices that combine in perfect harmony and a real musical simpatico, it’s little wonder that the duo have the confidence to explore the broad idiom of soul and funk, in the process pushing the conventional boundaries and creating a sound which is truly their own – not to mention their great song writing skills.
Witness tracks such as the dreamy Let’s Take A Holiday, through the rollicking and vocally seductive It’s My Soleil to the haunting and soul drenched Better Not Take Too Long. These are songs which stay in your mind after only a few listenings and could unashamedly have you singing along.
Dreamers has cemented the talents of Anthea White and Mark Palmer as two of this county’s most talented and innovative musicians and is bound to further a career that has already taken them to many different parts of the globe on an ongoing musical adventure.
